May Day! May Day!

This Sunday (May 1st) Remy turns the big 3-2!  Holy guacamole batman!

I've got a couple of things up my sleeve...the surprises start soon!

P.S. who watched the royal wedding?  I heart my DVR...cuz no offense, as much as I want to watch it, there was no way in H-E-double hockey sticks I was waking up THAT early!  Criminy!  But I did catch the kiss on the balcony live, and I'm not gonna lie, brought a little tear to my eye.

Where's Malcom Wednesday

This week Malcom can be found here:

Yes...Can I help you?
You want lunch?

Ramen?

Whatever you say...or, meow.

Wanna know something SAD and PATHETIC?

See this?

Yeah those?  Those are thank you cards from our wedding that took place approximately 1.333 years ago.  FAIL.  But don't fret, some of them did go out...luckily!

I've actually never stopped thinking about them.  It would probably clear my concious knowing I finished sending them even if it's more than fashionably late.  WAY more.  Now it's just tacky.

So I would like to take a vote...all in favor of me sending out those thank you cards 1.333 years late say "I."

Just Do Your Business and Go

If I'm in the bathroom at work, or clearly on my way into the bathroom -just save your conversation for later.  I don't like talking in bathrooms.  I just don't.  I don't want to talk about the day, or what I'm doing this weekend.  It's just weird.  If the only time we are going to see each other is in the bathroom, we probably don't care that much about what the other has to say anyway.  Right?

Maybe I'm just weird.  But if someone else enters the bathroom while I'm in there, I do everything possible to either make it completely out of the room before they exit the stall or make a judgment call based on several factors if it's just better to wait this one out.  Anyone?  Anyone?

Recently I had such an encounter.  I was trying to get myself out of the bathroom as quickly as possible, well the girl who came in finished WAY faster than she should have so as I literally sprinted to the door she was walking to the sink.  As I flew out, she yells, "oh hi Meggan."

AWK-WARD!

The worst part is that she saw me SEVERAL days later and said that I must be a really busy person, I sure was rushing out the door that day in the bathroom.

Double awkward.

All I'm saying is that I'm there for one purpose, and one purpose only.  Let me give you a hint, it's not to chat. So back up off me.

(I would like to note that going in a restroom with a group of friends is different for some reason, so friends who I might see out there...it's okay, you can talk...just not while anyone is actually IN the stall. Okay?)

A Cupcake Named Desire

So I have a very cute niece, Alissa.  Last week Alissa turned 2!

I wanted to make her an over-sized cupcake for her party, but I wasn't able to find the right size cupcake cup in time.  So I just made one of those giant cupcakes instead because that's what I could find.  I was very lucky that Big Lots had one of those pans just for me!

I had a vision for this cupcake.  In my brain, it looked about like this -ish....

I made mine with red velvet cake and cream cheese frosting. I thought the red would look really cute as the cup part.  I also wanted to add a little something-something to top.

It didn't come out like exactly like I wanted, but considering I am no cake artist, I was pretty happy with it.  I didn't have the skills to pipe the frosting on in one big swirl which is what I wanted, I had to smooth that out. Here's what I came up with (don't mind all the crap in the background, we were in a hurry)...

The banner says Happy Birthday Alissa!  Let me tell you, it was a hit at the party!  I thought the other desserts would be more appetizing (hello, Marie Calendar's pies!), but the first thing that was gone...my little cake.  I was a little bit proud I'm not going to lie.

Where's Malcom Wednesday

It's time to revisit Where's Malcom Wednesday.

This post is also slightly embarrassing to me because...well, you'll see...

Yeah.

Preparing for a flood there?

Apparently I am.  Oops.

Malcom LOVES to hide behind the curtains.  There's a heater vent back there for one, which we already know he loves to sit on.  But he also can catch some rays back there, plus, who just doesn't like to look out the window?  Well, now we can easily spot him when he IS behind them, because well...I shrunk the curtains.

They used to go all the way to the floor.  They were the perfect length as a matter of fact.  Remy's mother was so kind to hem them for him when he bought the place.  I decided to be a good housewife (which I'm not) and give the curtains a good wash (and dry).  Yeah so apparently drying them wasn't the best idea.  I didn't even know it was POSSIBLE for fabric to shrink that much!  That's a good 4 inches!

Now it just looks really funny when the cat goes back there...um...we can see you!

**Note to self: LET CURTAINS AIR DRY!

Okay, You Can Be Done Now

So our little bathroom project is starting to get on my nerves.  It's now been 2 full weeks, and the majority of the work (aka the shower) was done LAST Thursday.  I'm not even quite sure what the hold up has been now that I think about it. I'm feeling like the equivalent of living out of a suitcase in the bathroom.  Every morning we have to hang up the shower curtain, get out all the shampoo and soap...then before I leave work I have to take it all back down again.

It's getting annoying.

Especially since not much progress seems to be made from day to day.  Now I totally understand stuff comes up, but whattheheck!  However, it does look amazing!  We might have to end up staining the grout on the floor, because it's a little lighter than we wanted.  The guy grouted a small amount around the toilet earlier this week and it wasn't until last night (he's finishing today) that I really looked at it and realized it was too light.  But Remy talked to him and it's just not worth the time or money to have him take it out.  So we'll wait a month or so and see how we feel about it.

I just want it to be done TODAY.  There is a layer of dust from the work all over the house, and I just want it clean!

But I'm going to need some help on what to do with the vanity.  The floor ended up being a medium-ish brown.  I originally wanted the vanity to be dark with a light counter top.  But, I'm afraid with the darker floor, it'll be too much dark.  So I  might have to do a light vanity with a dark counter.  Once the floor is done I'll take a picture and you'll have to give me your professional opinions.
